about

Failed circus clown goes off the deep end. Watch out!

lyrics

Clownhead
©1998 P. Rogers

Clownhead peers through the grime on a windshield of a '69 , Roadrunner.
Pedal to the metal, Clownhead makes his getaway into the country
The Ringmaster's words still ring in his ears
"You are not funny, you've never been funny and you'll never work this tent again"

Clownhead...Nobody's laughing
Clownhead...Where has he gone?
Clownhead...They will remember
Clownhead..Nobody's laughing now.

Meanwhile at the birthday party for little Jimmy Osborn
a furious mother stares out the window waiting anxiously for a former circus clown
that is currently headed in the opposite direction.
Too far away, too far gone to turn back now.

Clownhead...Nobody's laughing
Clownhead...Where has he gone?
Clownhead...They will remember
Clownhead..Nobody's laughing now

Later that evening in the parking lot of a Walmart
a small group of children gather round a large headed figure.
They watch quietly as he hopelessly struggles with one misshapen balloon after another
One by one they drift away, leaving Clownhead with clenched teeth and a happy face.

Clownhead...Nobody's laughing
Clownhead...Where has he gone?
Clownhead...They will remember
Clownhead..Nobody's laughing now
